RED BULL KTM DOMINATE GLEN HELEN MOTOCROSS

ETS Racing Fuels - Dungey dominates at Race 1

25 May, 2014 - Glen Helen, San Bernadino, California - Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series - 450MX class

After a strong finish to the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series, Red Bull KTM Factory riders Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen shifted their focus to the ‘outdoor’ season, with the opening round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series at the iconic Glen Helen facility on San Bernadino, California, the duo carrying on their good ‘indoor’ form with a 1-2 finish.

2010/2012 AMA MX champion Dungey is considered the series favourite, and the ETS-powered rider proved why, by setting the pace during opening qualifying, with his impressive German team-mate Roczen coming through to win the second qualifier.

Roczen got the jump on his team-mate in Moto 1, the pair soon through to second and third to finish on the podium behind runaway race winner Josh Grant.

In Moto 2 Roczen again got the jump to take the holeshot into turn one with Dungey in tow. The two Red Bull KTM Factory riders pulled quickly pulled away from the field to take a commanding lead into the final laps. Dungey was doing everything in his power to get around his younger team-mate, the pair often side-by-side with the crowd on their feet as each looked to take the win.

Three corners from home Dungey made a huge lunge inside the German to take away the lead and carry the advantage to the flag giving the team a dream start to the new outdoor season, a 1-2 finish.

“The track was really tough today”, stated Dungey. “The crew did a great job prepping it but it definitely got to be one-lined in the second moto. It was hard to make a pass and that is why it took so long for me to challenge for the lead. I’m really happy with my result today and hope to carry this momentum to Hangtown.”

Roczen commented: “I had a lot of fun today. I have raced the GP here before and ridden this track a lot so I knew what to expect. I was fortunate to get good starts and that kept me up front. I’m pumped to have a podium at the first round to get this season started right.”
